ARLIS/ NA New England Chapter’s Fall meeting was held on Friday, October 18th at the Claire T. Carney Library at UMass Dartmouth. The Library has recently undergone a major renovation and expansion project, which was recently highlighted in the September/ October 2013 issue of American Libraries. http://lib.umassd.edu/about/library-building-renovation-and-expansion-program.
Please note that the day’s agenda has been updated with 2 additional items: a presentation by DesignLab architect Kelly Ard Haigh on the interior renovation of the Claire T. Carney Library and an afternoon architectural walking tour of the campus led by Bruce Barnes, UMASS Dartmouth librarian emeritus and creator of the website “Paul Rudolph and his Architecture”. 9:30 – 10:15 – Coffee and greetings
10:30 – 11:15 – Business meeting
11:15 –11:30 – Presentation on the Brutalism of UMass Dartmouth’s Campus Architecture by art historian Anna Dempsey
11:30 – Noon – Presentation on the interior renovation of the Claire T Carney Library by Kelly Ard Haigh – New addition!
12:00 – 12:30 – Tour of the Claire T. Carney Library
12:30 – 1:30 – Lunch on Campus (the cost for lunch will be $10)
1:30 -2:30 – Campus Architecture Walking Tour led by Bruce Barnes– New addition!
